OTS is committed to continuing professional development for practitioners. From our experience of practitioners from many different training schools, we have understood the need for language and concepts which bring together an understanding of the work we do which crosses the modality boundaries.
The importance of our work in this area was reflected strongly in the article below on the 'Gold Standards in Psychotherapy' which sets out the case for a plurality of psychotherapeutic approaches.

Personal & Professional Development Group
OTS Training & Development Group
Personal & Professional Development Group for qualified practitioners
Qualified practitioners working psychologically and developmentally with clients/patients
This is a rare opportunity to deepen your awareness and appreciation
of the relational dynamics in the therapeutic relationship, which is increasingly understood to be at the heart of the outcome of therapeutic and developmental work.
These groups is particularly rare, as they are open to counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, coaches and other professionals in the helping professions. This multi-modal dynamic makes for a rich learning environment, in which we will use both the process of the group and client work to develop a deeper awareness of the impact inter and intrapersonal dynamics have on the client relationship. Justin believes that by embracing whole-heartedly the difficulties, paradoxes, shadow aspects and complexities of the client/practitioner process, we stand the best chance of doing justice to our clients, as well as our own authority, effectiveness and satisfaction as a practitioner.
Justin has over 30 years of experience, and facilitates these groups (sometimes with a co-facilitator) of around 8 members each. His style is relational and integrative, so practitioners from all modalities, orientations and areas of the helping professions are invited to apply, and will find plenty of opportunities to learn from the diversity within the group.
The 3-hour groups are run on a 4-weekly rhythm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. After an initial interview to identify which group might be most useful for you, and for you and the facilitator to get to know one another, it is suggested that you attend 2 sessions as a taster to see if it feels like a good fit and opportunity for you.

OTS Training & Development Group
These are ongoing monthly training and development groups at OTS-Witney. These multi-modality groups are designed to support trainees and newly qualified practitioners deepen their relationship with their clients.
The groups are not primarily supervision groups, but use the client material that participants bring to explore and deepen our understanding of the therapeutic relationship, both practically and theoretically. Building on participants’ established ways of working and reflecting as therapists, we will develop together a relational and integrative language to describe the intricacies of the client-therapist relationship and the therapeutic process. We will introduce some ideas and elaborate key concepts of the relational training that is been delivered at OTS. It will be most suitable for trainees and newly qualified practitioners, but if you already have a few years in practice and want to explore if the group is suitable for you, let us know.
We will seek to bring together training concepts on:
We will also consider many of the practical aspects of therapy - boundaries, fees, times, holidays etc. and how to deal with them and their deeper meaning in any given therapeutic relationship.
Fees: £50 per session
(the intention is for members to attend all sessions, but one sessions fee per year can be missed)
